A lucky player from Sweden has recently received the biggest ever payout on NetEnt’s smash-hit title Mega Fortune. The amount, €2.6m (SEK28m) is believed to be the largest jackpot in the company’s history and breaks a record set by a fellow Swedish player last week of €238,500 (SEK2.5m).
In a press release, NetEnt’s chief commercial officer, Andy Whitworth, commented upon the win:
Our global jackpot games are continuing to break records across the globe and we’re proud to be able to bring such monumental wins to players through Mega Fortune. We hope to continue raising the bar with even bigger jackpots in the future.
Niklas Ortbrant, CEO of Svenska Spel Sport & Casino, whose site was where the win occurred, further added:
To break records twice in two weeks with such a significant jump from the second to first highest win is incredible and we can’t wait to see what the jackpot climbs to next time. We wish all the best to the lucky player and hope they enjoy this life-changing sum.
This news follows another major NetEnt jackpot win by a player in Pennsylvania. The American player received $533,239 via Rush Street Interactive’s PlaySugarHouse.com brand last month. It also comes amidst reports that Evolution Gaming is seeking to buy NetEnt in an interesting new agreement between the two Swedish firms.
Mega Fortune was first launched by NetEnt in 2009 and ever since then has lived up to its ‘mega’ name. The game offers an incredible trio of jackpots – Mega Fortune Rapid, Mega Fortune Major, and the Mega Fortune Mega Jackpot. The jackpot is completely progressive and played at hundreds of Pay and Play casinos worldwide – often reaching high levels and incredible payouts that normally average around €4m.
The game is fairly exclusive, only being available to elite players on online casino sites that meet strict criteria in order to be able to host the game. Some of the Pay n Play sites that host the game are MrGreen and No Account Casino. All of the symbols and graphics in the game revolve around various aspects of wealth – something the recipient of the most recent jackpot will undoubtedly become more familiar with.
NetEnt, short for Net Entertainment, is a Swedish firm founded in 1996 and has produced some of the most established titles in the online casino world such as Blood Suckers, Dead Or Alive, and the aforementioned Mega Fortune. As the hefty jackpot win demonstrates, NetEnt is now a major competitor – their systems handled 58.3 billion gaming transactions in 2019, they have more than 200 active customers that include some of the largest gaming operators in the world and over 200 titles.
The firm also reported a 24 percent increase in revenue (€45.4m) for the first quarter of 2020, after acquiring the British developer Red Tiger Gaming.
