Following a successful deal with the most popular Austrian casino software provider, online brands operated by Swiss Casinos will provide classic Greentube slot machines to swiss players. The new deal does not come as a surprise as two of the main Swiss Casinos competitors (Casino Interlaken, Grand Casino Luzern) recently sealed business agreements with Greentube in the effort to expand the portfolio of games offered by their brands.
With the new agreement, the Swiss-based casino operator will launch new online slot classics as early as this April 2020. In the anticipation of the upcoming integration, the operator made sure to deal included all successful titles and those with an already existing fanbase in Switzerland's land-based casinos.
Greentube’s reputation as the house of slot machine classics is undisputable in the iGaming industry. Some of the slots expected to be found in the renewed portfolios include Book of Ra, Dolphins’ Pearl, Sizzling Hot, and Lucky Lady’s Charm Deluxe. With such an extensive and rich portfolio of games, Swiss Casinos hope to solidify its status as a reference for world-class entertainment and online Casino experience in Switzerland.
Like many of the European countries today, the iGaming market used to be in a gray area in Switzerland. But, since June 2018, the Swiss government has decided to adopt one of the most controversial online gambling laws in Europe.
The new regulations state that all activities involving online casinos and sports betting should be exclusively provided by the existing operators with a local presence in the Swiss Market. Or, via foreign betting sites in partnership with local Swiss casinos. Although approved by 73% majority vote in the referendum, many players and industry experts saw in the new regulations yet another ruse for the government to impose a monopoly in the market.
The enforcement of new regulations caused a massive departure of several brands and software providers from the Swiss market. A year and a half after, new ties are being created between local Swiss casino operators and casino software providers such as Greentube and Microgaming.
It is a necessity to provide a diverse portfolio of games to our customers. We are confident that the addition of Greentube slots among the list of products offered to our online audience will be as successful as what we’ve experienced in land-based casinos.
Said Patrick Mastai, Swiss Casinos’ online department manager.
Besides the regulation on licensing imposed on foreign operators, the intercantonal gambling authority (Comlot) has also created a blacklist classifying operators without a proper license. These operators' websites could be subject to an internet access provider block, or restriction from appearing on the web.
Since June 2018, only 6 local establishments have signed new deals with foreign operators applying to obtain a license in Switzerland. Left to thrive in a very lucrative market with little to no competition, Greentube intends to further expand its exposure and fully profit from the favorable position.
