The third edition of the Mare Balticum gaming summit and BSG awards will be held in Tallinn, Estonia on August 6th, 2020 with Trustly as one of the firms acting as a general sponsor.
The event, being held at Radisson Blu Hotel Olümpia Tallinn will bring together leading experts from across the Baltic and Scandinavian regions alongside acclaimed gambling operators, such as Trustly and its PayNPlay development team. The summit has previously been held in Vilnius and Riga, growing in success and acclaim each year.
It will be the first live (face to face/offline) gambling event in Europe since the start of the pandemic and interest is high with many companies keen to show their support. Expect plenty of interesting discussions on a variety of issues, such as upcoming regulations, with an emphasis on localized issues and trends of the gambling industry in the Baltic and Scandinavian industries. The organizers have also announced plans to bring start-up operators to the forefront of the conversation, with at least one panelist being a market operator alongside others from gambling authorities and controllers.
As mentioned before, Trustly is one of this year’s general sponsors. Never ones to shy away from an opportunity in the limelight, Trustly regularly use events and conferences to announce new features and make big announcements. This event comes during a big year for Trustly, with a recent BlackRock investment valuing them at over $1 billion.
Amongst other leading experts, John Mallia, Gaming Accounts manager at Trustly, is set to join “The growth of global payment platforms which cater for the gambling industry (including cryptocurrencies)” panel discussion. Following a decade long career in gambling operations, Mallia joined Trustly in 2019 and is the manager of AM Gaming team in Malta, focusing on payment designs for new technologies.
The conference is going ahead as planned despite the COVID-19 pandemic and Estonian government sources have allowed entry into the country from the 1st of August for citizens from EU and EEA countries with a low spread of the virus to enter the country without the need for a 14-day isolation period. From July 1st, indoor events of up to 500 people will be allowed but rooms must only be used at 50% capacity in order to maintain social distancing rules so the conference will be limited to only 80 delegates, making it comfortable for participants.
Estonia represents a growing market for online casinos. Becoming legal in 1994, an audience of gamblers grew steadily within the country with needed regulations being introduced in 2010. 80% of Estonia’s adult population have gambled at least once in their life. As of July 2020, there were 20 operators with gambling licenses in Estonia. However, it is believed that the current pandemic will likely have a detrimental effect on the gambling industry in Estonia.
